The current aviation firefighting system is counter-intuitive to American ideals. The planes contracted by a variety of firefighting agencies across the US are capable of putting out fires, but continue to plague the world with carbon emissions, which in turn, cause larger and more deadly fires. Our World in Data reports that aviation emissions have doubled in the last decade. The next generation of firefighting aircraft must be electric, or electric UAV sourced to limit damaging emissions, while protecting vital American forest. Our plan elaborates on the existing technologies that can be contracted to develop electric firefighting aircraft, while reviving targeted airports and local economies to support these aircraft needed to protect our land.
